Since it’s Paris Fashion Week, We’ve been to see Tamara Taichman. Woman of the shadows and the great fashion editor of Elle magazine, she is also head of her own brand which she created a few years ago. Under the name of Tila March, her collection of bags and footwear never ceases to assert itself on the fashion scene. Designed for women of character like herself, who are feminine and refined, the most recent collection continues to amaze us. The furniture in Tamara’s home has been chosen with care. She likes to create a composition, to go hunting in the Saint Ouen flea market and to be on the lookout for new pieces. She and Nicolas, her partner in life and in work, collect art books without restraint and the decor is centred around them.
Tamara, how would you describe your furnishing style?
Eclectic, contemporary and passionate. Whether classic, modern or with a big name behind it, I like to bring inspirations together and organise the encounter with vintage pieces that I’ve picked up, designer lighting, and furniture with a rich history.
Which designer or artist inspires you most?
The architect Carlo Scarpa, for the audacity of his lines which are somewhere between richness and purity.
Which designer piece do you dream of owning?
A Day Bed by Gio Ponti.
Is there a link between the style of your interior and the style of your clothing?
Yes, for me, they’re both an excuse to mix styles, eras and even prices, and to create a classic outfit or a unique space using different pieces and influences.
Where do you find your furniture?
Flea markets! Particularly those in Saint-Ouen, that I explore at the weekend in search of vintage treasures.
Which is the key piece in your new collection?
The shoulder bag from the Karlie range, which is one of the season’s new ranges. It’s the perfect bag for summer in the city, with a lovely round shape and a feminine feel.
What kind of woman is the new collection aimed at?
The new collection is aimed at the woman who likes fashion, but who wants to be original and unique. A modern woman who doesn’t like pieces with flashy logos and stands out for her own taste and her own personality.
Do you have a restaurant to recommend to us?
Le Voltaire, in the 7th arrondissement. It’s the perfect place for a dinner with friends.
